In this short video we look inside recycling bins to better understand why Greece is one of the worst recyclers in Europe, a title that has cost millions in fines.
Dimitris Ibrahim of Greenpeace says you can find everything from dead cats to tampons in the recycling bin. A single object that does not belong in the recycling bin can jeopardize the recycling process for the whole bin. And with only 18% of the trash we produce recycled, 82% ends up in landfills. It's no surprise that Greece had to pay a fine of 54 million Euros for 2014 alone.
